I was just helping my dad put the medicine oil on his back when something hit me smack in the face.
My dad's white hair.
Now, his hair isn't completely white, and this isn't the first time I've thought about it, but you know, it really hit me.
My parents are getting old. My parents are aging, and the years are passing by quickly. My mom looks like she could be my sister, but I can see her age in her face, and through her dark brown-tinted hair. I can see my dad's age in his hair, his movements, the expressions on his face. And my heart breaks.
My grandpa passed away ten days ago, and the funeral was last weekend. Just thinking about losing my parents some day soon is breaking my heart. It's inevitable, I know. I'll see them again, I know. But these are the two people who raised me, loved me, taught me, and never, ever gave up on me when everyone else threw me aside. I love them so much, and there's a lump in my throat just thinking about all this and typing it up.
Gave my first paycheck to parents? Check. But they didn't take it.
Goal number two? Get them onto a cruise when I actually get a job.
And, of course, pray for them always and love and serve them every day.
